Winter Activities in Loudoun County
As much as I love my warm cozy sweaters, Anthropologie candles burning throughout the house, fuzzy socks on my feet at all times, and a roaring fire in my fire place, if you are like me, this cold weather has you a bit stir-crazy locked indoors. During the fall, spring, and summer, I am always looking for activities to do and new places to visit, so I hate that I have let a little cold weather stop me in my tracks. If you are desperately looking for something to do with your family or a few girlfriends, do not fret. I did all the hard research for you!
A Middleburg Coffee Shop Crawl
- When I was in my 20s, I was a always down for a bar crawl. That fun doesn't have to end. Not only are Middleburg's cobbled streets and antique feel absolutely gorgeous in the winter, but a coffee crawl is all the fun minus the horrible next morning! JMy personal favorite Middleburg shop is Cuppa Giddy Up. I know I recommended a coffee crawl, but with just the right cup of coffee, one of their delicious cakes, and a captivating book, you may find yourself pleasantly lost in time for a few hours.
Cozy Fireside Winery
- Don't be fooled into thinking wineries are only for fall and spring days. Sometimes the only thing I need on a freezing day is a rich glass of Malbec while cozied up next to a fireplace with a book. (You may be sensing a theme in my winter favorite activities). Luckily for you (and me), Loudoun is full of wineries. I recommend Creek's Edge Winery in Lovettsville or Casanel Vineyards in Leesburg if you desperately need the perfect winter pick-me-up in the form of a bottle and a fire place.

- Another activity that has rapidly gained popularity in Loudoun is Escape Rooms. My family cannot get enough of these tricky rooms filled with clever puzzles. Although our percentage of rooms escaped is (very) low and I have yet to figure out how to bring my book to this activity, I love watching my family work closely together to try and escape the room. No matter the result, we always end up leaving the room laughing and enjoying each other's company!
No matter the season, Loudoun County always has the perfect activities for spending time with family or friends. It will be a long winter, so I hope you come to enjoy the activities I have suggested for you and your family. Whether you are new or a lifelong resident, I hope you soon get to explore and know all Loudoun has to offer.
